1. Acceptance
By creating an account or using Grimoire at dungeongrimoire.com you agree to these Terms of Service. If you do not agree, do not use the service.
2. The service
Grimoire is a campaign management tool for tabletop role-playing games. It lets Dungeon Masters and players manage campaigns, characters, NPCs, encounters, and related content, with optional AI generation features.
Anyone who meets these Terms may create an account. A campaign invite may be required to join an existing campaign, but it is not required to register for Grimoire.
3. Your account
- You must provide accurate information when registering.
- You are responsible for keeping your credentials secure. Do not share your password.
- You may not create accounts for others or use automated means to register.
- One account per person. Duplicate accounts may be removed.
4. Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- Use the service for unlawful purposes or in violation of any applicable law.
- Attempt to gain unauthorised access to our systems or other users’ accounts.
- Upload malware, spam, or content that violates third-party intellectual property rights.
- Reverse-engineer, scrape, or abuse the API.
- Use the service to generate content that is illegal, abusive, or violates the guidelines of any AI provider you have connected.
We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that violate these rules.
5. AI features and Bring Your Own Key (BYOK)
Grimoire includes optional AI-powered generation features (NPC portraits, stat blocks, campaign text, etc.).
- BYOK: You may connect your own API key from OpenAI or Google. By doing so, you agree to the terms and acceptable-use policies of those providers, and you are responsible for any costs they charge.
- Platform keys: If you do not connect your own key, generations use Grimoire’s own provider keys and are charged against your AI credit balance (see §6). Your prompts are sent to the relevant provider to fulfil the request.
- Your API key is stored encrypted and is only used to fulfil your generation requests. We do not use it for any other purpose.
- Local-only key mode: In Campaign Settings you may choose to store your API key exclusively in your browser’s local storage. In this mode your key is never transmitted to CroCode BV’s servers — all generation requests travel directly between your browser and the AI provider. You remain responsible for securing your local device and for the costs incurred with the provider.
- AI-generated content may be inaccurate, incomplete, or inappropriate. You are responsible for reviewing and using it appropriately.
- We make no guarantee about the availability, quality, or cost of third-party AI services.
6. Subscriptions, AI credits, and refunds
Grimoire PRO is a paid subscription billed in advance, monthly or annually via Stripe. It renews automatically at the end of each billing period until you cancel. You can cancel at any time from Billing → Manage subscription; cancellation takes effect at the end of the current period and you are not charged again. Subscription prices may change; we will give you at least 30 days’ notice before a price increase applies to you. If you do not accept the new price, you may cancel before it takes effect and will not be charged the increased amount.
AI credits are used by AI features when you are not using your own API key. Credits are purchased in advance and are non-refundable once consumed. Unused credits do not expire. Credit costs per generation type are listed in the app and may change; we will give reasonable notice before changing prices. A price change never affects credits you have already purchased.
Refunds, cancellation, and your EU right of withdrawal are described in our Refund Policy.
7. Your content
You retain ownership of all content you create in Grimoire (campaign notes, characters, maps, etc.). By using the service, you grant us a limited licence to store and process your content solely to provide the service to you.
We will not access your campaign content except to resolve a technical support request you have initiated, or as required by law.
You warrant that you have the rights to any content you upload, and that it does not infringe the intellectual-property or other rights of any third party.
Reporting infringing content (notice and takedown)
If you believe content hosted on Grimoire infringes your copyright or other rights, email info@dungeongrimoire.com with the subject line “Takedown Request” and include: (1) your contact details, (2) a description and link to the specific content, (3) a description of the right you hold, and (4) a statement that you believe in good faith the use is not authorised. We will review valid notices, remove or disable access to infringing content where appropriate, and may notify the user who posted it. Accounts that repeatedly infringe may be suspended or terminated.
8. Open source
Grimoire’s source code is publicly available on GitHub under its stated licence. Nothing in these terms limits your rights under that licence with respect to the code itself.
9. Service availability
We aim to provide a reliable service but make no uptime guarantees. The service is provided “as is”. We may perform maintenance, change features, or discontinue the service with reasonable notice.
10. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by Dutch law, CroCode BV is not liable for:
- Loss of data (back up your campaign data using the export feature).
- Indirect, incidental, or consequential damages.
- Costs incurred through your use of third-party AI providers.
Our total liability to you for any claim is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months preceding the claim.
Nothing in these terms excludes or limits our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for intent or conscious recklessness (opzet of bewuste roekeloosheid), or for any other liability that cannot be excluded or limited under mandatory law. If you are a consumer, the exclusions and the cap in this section apply only to the extent permitted by mandatory Dutch consumer law, and nothing here affects your mandatory statutory rights as a consumer.
11. Governing law and disputes
These terms are governed by the laws of the Netherlands. Any disputes will be submitted to the competent court in the Netherlands.
If you are a consumer resident in the EU, this choice of law does not deprive you of the protection of the mandatory provisions of the law of your country of residence, and — notwithstanding the paragraph above — you may bring proceedings in, and may only be sued in, the courts of your country of residence. You may also use the EU Online Dispute Resolution platform.
12. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms from time to time. We will notify you of material changes by email or in-app notice at least 14 days before they take effect. If you are a consumer and do not accept a material change, you may terminate your subscription before the change takes effect; any prepaid amount for a period not yet supplied will be refunded on a pro-rata basis. Continued use of the service after the change takes effect constitutes acceptance.
